  • Overview

    As a member of the clinical leadership team, the Nursing Operations Manager performs all duties under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and consults with the Chief Medical Officer.  The Nursing Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating orientation and ongoing training of Nurses and Medical Assistants.  This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with VFC/VFA vaccine programs, CLIA Lab, OSHA, and other Health Plan/HRSA requirements and overseeing inventory management of clinical supplies, vaccines, lab supplies and other duties needed.

     

    This is a full-time benefited position working 40 hours per week during clinic hours, typically Monday through Friday with  periodic Saturday hours. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills working with diverse populations. Community Health and Nextgen or Epic experience is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate training of RNs, LVNs, and MAs.  Work with nursing staff to ensure standardization of procedures and policy adherence throughout TVHC.
    • Creates and directs monthly trainings and other nursing meetings to ensure ongoing competencies for all clinical staff and train on new initiatives.
    • Oversees compliance with vaccine programs (VFC/VFA), CLIA lab requirements, OSHA, and other HRSA/Health Plan requirements.
    • Coordinates all nursing functions at each clinic to ensure compliance with established standards and procedural requirements.
    • Oversees implementation of clinical initiatives to ensure successful integration into regular clinic operations.
    • Creates policies and procedures as needed to standardize clinical workflows and functions, including standing orders and clinical protocols.
    • Participates in the hiring process for clinical staff.
    • Acts as clinical resource for other staff to answer questions, coach, and supervise current staff in the performance of their job duties
    • Coordinates effective use of supplies, equipment and facilities.  Evaluates medical supply purchase history of clinics to identify areas for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
    • Documents, investigates and responds to nursing concerns, issues, and complaints quickly and appropriately.  Reports all operational issues promptly to the COO to avoid repeat of inefficiencies and to improve overall quality in the department.
    • Works collaboratively among clinical and administration departments to address issues including those related to patient scheduling, handling of triage calls and drop-ins, and all related issues impacting the efficient operations of the clinical floor.
    • Coordinates with site managers to conduct regular performance evaluations for nursing and MA staff.  Documents performance concerns in a timely manner and works to implement performance improvement and progressive discipline plans as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    • Possession of valid California Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse license and current CPR certification.
    • Graduate from Accredited Registered Nursing or Vocational Nursing program.
    • Minimum three years nursing experience in an outpatient clinic with responsibility in various administrative duties.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
    • Able to relate appropriately to, communicate effectively with, and develop trusting relationships with diverse patient population and with staff.
    • Able to motivate staff; promote team building; assume leadership role within clinical area.
    • Demonstrates flexibility in regards to job duties and assignments.
    • Must have the ability to travel, with or without notice, to various clinic sites.
