  • Overview



    The Building & Custodial Services Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance for all TVHC clinics/sites. This position will also be responsible for completing daily and ongoing janitorial tasks such as but not limited to; emptying trash containers, replenishing supplies and cleaning up spills. This individual will also provide basic maintenance services including, but not limited to, plumbing repairs and maintenance, painting, light construction work i.e., repairing plasterboard, installing window coverings, cleaning and repairing carpets, and setting up and dismantling furniture in conference rooms.





    Receives, prioritizes and completes work order tickets in a timely fashion consisting of, but not limited to:

    • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers in the office areas, public areas and outside buildings
    • Carries out routine maintenance tasks such facility painting.
    • Cleans and replenishes supplies to all site restrooms throughout the day and performs routine tasks such as plunging toilets, unclogging drains, and fixing leaks and clean up spills.
    • Assists with office moves within and between work sites.
    • Support department requests for manual labor such as lifting boxes and assembling furniture, mounting of medical equipment and shelves, installing key boards, keyless entry systems, etc. .
    • Monitors inventory of janitorial; coordinates with the site manager and/or administrative support staff to order supplies.
    • Conducts multiple daily inspections for cleanliness of the building with an emphasis on all common areas including, restrooms, conference rooms, staff lounge and client waiting areas.
    • Monitors all location sites for possible safety concerns, such as frayed carpets, loose tiles, water or debris in walkway, etc., determines the most appropriate means for fixing the problem considering timeliness, cost, quality of the repair, and disruption of services.
    • Maintains outdoor areas of building and grounds keeping.
    • Set up and dismantle at organization meetings and events.
    • Shampoo carpet areas as needed.
    • Clean, wipe and wash accessible interior and exterior windows, walls, glass doors, use ladder when required in work assignments.
    • Remove debris from public floors, stairways, sidewalks and areas within the vicinity of the building.
    • Completes basic maintenance services such as, but not limited to; changing light bulbs, ballasts, batteries, assembling and installing items (shelves, containers etc.),
    • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as: snakes, power washers, brooms, mops, etc.
    • Check waste management containers and areas assuring that the areas are keeps free of debris and garbage is evenly distributed in the trash containers.
    • Transport furniture, mail, supplies between sites as needed.
    • Place service calls and take the lead with scheduling and assuring the jab gets done.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.




    • Current California Driver's License clean DMV driving record, automobile insurance, and ability to travel as required to perform duties.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.  
    • Demonstrated ability to work amicably among patients, staff, colleagues, external contacts, and other TVHC members.
    • Basic facility maintenance knowledge, including, but not limited to, basic working knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, etc.
    • Must be familiar with proper use of various tools (screwdriver, drill, plunger, etc.)for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc. This includes using all precautionary safeguards to avoid injury, protecting property, self and others.
    • Willingness and flexibility to accept various work assignments, work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
    • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to problem solve in the assessment and repair of facility equipment and machinery.
    • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.





    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 1 year related experience in routine building maintenance and custodial services including the use of power tools, building materials, etc., including proper handling and clean-up.



    • Ability to frequently stand, bend, kneel, stretch, reach, and lift
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
    • Ability to use eye-hand coordination
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Proficient with PC-based applications – Word, Excel, Outlook.
