    Located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay, Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center has an opening for a Family Practice Physician who would like the opportunity to help build and further expand the practice at Tiburcio’s Firehouse Clinic, referred to as a convenient care model. The Firehouse Clinic is a beautiful new facility and is located adjacent to a Hayward, CA firehouse. It provides full-scope routine primary health care, prevention medicine and dental care for all ages. This position is part of a team which includes NP/PAs and other ancillary staff.


    Firehouse clinicians have a smaller patient panel size to accommodate more walk-in, same day, and urgent care appointments. The Firehouse is open 8am-8pm Monday – Friday. The hours are ideal for physicians wanting to work three 12 hour shifts, or four 10 hour shifts.

    This is a full-time benefited position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (may include periodic Saturday hours); however, you have the ability to work three, four or five day work weeks.

    • Provides direct clinical care in accordance with highest applicable standards of medical practices, in full accordance with health center policies and protocols. 
    • Maintains accurate medical records through our electronic health records system.
    • Assists with day to day oversight of NP/PAs.
    • Assists with implementation of site quality improvement initiatives. 
    • Provides direct clinical care in accordance with highest applicable standards of medical practices, in full accordance with health center policies and protocols.
    • Acts as primary consultant on all cases assigned to the clinician based on the medical specialty.
    • Provides supervision in case management and procedures to NP, PA as needed including sign-off on charts, co-signatures for forms and prescriptions.


    Job Requirements:

    • Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice and possess a current CA Medical Licensure and a desire to work with multi-cultural, high-risk patients in outpatient primary care.
    • Commitment to a community health philosophy of wellness, prevention and primary care.
    • Bilingual preferred but not required.

    General Skills Required

    • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
    • Demonstrated ability to build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, external contacts, and other organizational members.
    • Good problem solving skills required, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical problems.
    • Willingness and ability to work periodic evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
    • The ideal candidate must be dedicated to building a collaborative team model of care, and ideally experienced working with the under-served.­­­­­­­
